‘Penny Dreadful’ Season 2 Spoilers: 4 Things To Know About The July 5 Finale
It’s the moment fans have been dreading. The “Penny Dreadful” Season 2 finale airs Sunday, and the show goes on a long hiatus until next year, but first, fans will see Vanessa (Eva Green) and her friends face off against Evelyn (Helen McCrory). Before watching, there are a few things fans should know about the supernatural drama’s finale:
1. Family Struggles -- Vanessa’s little family might not survive the finale. Showrunner John Logan teased they would face some challenges in the finale, but he didn’t say if the characters would overcome them. “A lot of characters and a lot of plot strands are in function in season 2,” Logan told Entertainment Weekly. “And in the finale, they all come together -- sort of come crashing together -- and in a way, the family that we built so carefully over two seasons is really challenged and begins to fracture in what I think are interesting ways.”
2. A Solid Ending -- While the writers are bound to leave some loose ends to pick up in Season 3, but this year’s major mysteries will come to a close. “There's nothing subtle about Evelyn Poole and those witches,” Logan told IGN, “so I think fans can expect a rather thunderous conclusion to that story.”
3. Mr. Lyle Offers Help -- In a sneak-peek video, Mr. Lyle (Simon Russell Beale) tries to show how useful he is to Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway). Is offering to listen a genuine move of kindness? Or does he just want to get in Frankenstein’s good graces? Watch the sneak-peek video for “Penny Dreadful” Season 2, episode 10 below:
4. Vanessa And Ethan -- In a Showtime interview posted last week, Green explained Vanessa is getting closer to figuring out Ethan (Josh Hartnett) is a werewolf. “She feels there is something really dangerous in him, and she doesn’t know yet that he’s this wild beast,” Green said. “She senses that he’s done something really bad and very dark.”
Showtime probably wouldn’t post this just days before the finale if it wasn’t relevant. Will Ethan confess to his true nature? Many fans want them to get together, but finding out what Ethan is might prevent anything romantic from happening. Watch the interview below:
