Christina Aguilera will receive the first-ever Music Icon honor at the 2021 People's Choice Awards. The award ceremony will be held on Dec. 7 at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

"There is a reason Christina Aguilera is referred to as 'the voice of our generation,'" said Jean Neal, executive vice president for entertainment live events and specials at NBC Universal Entertainment Television.

"She not only has an extraordinary voice, but as a creator, produces music that evokes true emotion and resonates across so many different demographics. Christina is an idol and we cannot wait to celebrate her successes and present her with the inaugural Music Icon award," the music executive added.

The award will be presented by five-time People's Choice Award winner and BTS' Suga collaborator, Becky G.

Aside from receiving the iconic award, Aguilera will also perform a medley of her greatest hits, including tracks from her new Spanish album "Pa Mis Muchachas," which is a follow-up to her first Spanish-language album from 2000, "Mi Reflejo."

The "Reflection" singer is one of the highly regarded artists of her generation. She has scored a total of five No. 1 singles on Billboard Hot 100 since she debuted in the music industry in 1999. They include "Genie In A Bottle," "What A Girl Wants," "Come On Over Baby" and her collaboration works – "Lady Marmalade" with Lil' Kim, Mya and P!nk and "Moves Like Jagger" with Maroon 5.

She has also placed two No.1 albums on the Billboard 200, her 1999 debut "Christina Aguilera" and her 2006 double album, "Back To Basics."

The "Genie In A Bottle" artist has five Grammy Awards tucked under her belt and a Latin Grammy Award. She also has a star dedicated to her on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She took a seat as coach in NBC's "The Voice" in 2011 and launched her Las Vegas concert residency, titled "The Xperience," in 2018.

Aguilera had performed at the 2013 People's Choice Awards and received the People's Voice Award.

A live red-carpet special will be aired on E! on Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. ET.
