People's Choice Awards: BTS, Jungkook Win Top Honors; Fans React
BTS won three awards at this year's People's Choice Awards. The global sensation won the Group of the Year and the Concert Tour awards for its "Permission to Dance on Stage" concerts.
Jungkook's collaboration with Charlie Puth, "Left and Right," bagged the Collaboration award.
This is the third time the septet – Jin, RM, Suga, Jimin, Jungkook, V and J-Hope – has received the Group of the Year award since 2018.
The band's ever-loyal fan group, known as the ARMY, was happy as they congratulated their idols on Twitter.
"We are always there for you. We believe in you and love you infinitely. You deserve everything in the world. I'm so proud to be an Army," a fan wrote on Twitter.
"You deserve the world my boys," another said.
One supporter tweeted an old clip of the septet and said, "Congratulations my loves, You deserve the whole world my boys. I'M SOO PROUD OF YOU."
Another fan praised Jungkook for his achievement and said, "JUNGKOOK is now the FIRST and ONLY K-pop Soloist in history to win at the People's Choice Award. JUNGKOOK PAVED THE WAY."
People's Choice Awards winners in 40 categories are decided through online votes.
For the Group of the Year award, BTS competed against 5 Seconds of Summer, Blackpink, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Måneskin, OneRepublic and Panic! At The Disco.
BTS was up against Bad Bunny ("World's Hottest Tour"), Billie Eilish ("Happier Than Ever, The World Tour"), Dua Lipa ("Future Nostalgia Tour"), Ed Sheeran ("Ed Sheeran Tour"), Harry Styles ("Love on Tour"), Lady Gaga ("The Chromatica Ball") and Luke Combs ("The Middle of Somewhere Tour") for the Concert Tour trophy.
Meanwhile, Jungkook and Puth edged out Camila Cabello-Ed Sheeran ("Bam Bam"), Nicki Minaj-Lil Baby ("Do We Have a Problem?"), Elton John-Britney Spears ("Hold Me Closer"), Tyga-Doja Cat ("Freaky Deaky") Drake-21 Savage ("Jimmy Cooks"), Bad Bunny-Rauw Alejandro ("Party") and Megan Thee Stallion-Dua Lipa ("Sweetest Pie") to bag the Collaboration Song award.
