Performing HIIT Exercises Can Help Minimize The Risk Of Contracting A Heart Disease
Heart disease is a medical term for an array of ailments that affect the heart. While some of these ailments may just bring about some daily annoyances, many of them can become fatal if left unchecked. It is very important, therefore, for patients to take steps in minimizing such risk. Switching to a healthy diet can help minimize the risk of developing this deadly condition. Performing the best exercises has also been found to help lower the threat of having a heart disease greatly.
When it comes to the best exercise, Dr. Lopez-Jimenez says that physical activities that make you feel better are good. Activities that make an individual’s heart rate increase a bit and make them breathe a lot more is better than having a sedentary lifestyle.
High-intensity interval training, or HIIT, for instance, provides added metabolic benefits for persons performing them. Some cardiac rehabilitation measures even make HIIT an important part of the program. Even people who have heart diseases and those who already suffered and survived from heart attacks stand to benefit a lot from these exercises.
According to Dr. Lopez-Jimenez, performing HIIT exercises for 30 minutes provide patients with more benefits compared to an hour or two of brisk walking. While he did not eliminate brisk walking as one of the exercises that can provide good benefits to the heart, performing HIIT exercises at half the time also gives the same amount of benefits.
Performing bursts of HIIT exercises, coupled with periodic slowing down intervals, can improve the patient’s metabolism. It can also help them gain longer diabetic control during the entire day. HIIT exercises also provide huge benefits to those who have difficulty in losing weight as this activity can help boost their metabolism.
For those who have knee or joint problems, other forms of exercise can otherwise match the results provided by HIIT. One of these activities is swimming. Even if patients have knee or other joint problems, they can perform this activity without great difficulty. Best of all, the harder they push themselves when swimming, the more resistance they will develop against many forms of ailments, particularly heart disease.
