Pet Dog Mauled To Death By Neighbor's German Shepherd As Owner Tries Saving It
A pet dog was mauled to death by another canine in front of its owners. The incident took place in Dothan, Alabama, on Tuesday night.
Speaking to Dothan First on Friday, Shavona Thomas said she and her daughter let their poodle, named Max, outside for its night walk every night. On Tuesday, the poodle was running back home after the walk when the family heard a loud noise. When they rushed outside, they found the neighbor’s German Shepherd attacking their pet.
Recalling the incident, Thomas said, “Out of nowhere, this big old German Shepherd came from next door and attacked him. He was biting on his neck shaking him just like a rag doll that’s the only way I can describe it.”
She added that moments before the attack, her daughter had asked Max to rush back home.
“She would tell him to hurry, and when I saw the dog the only thing, I could think of it was life, like my daughter,” she said.
Thomas immediately locked her daughter inside the home and tried saving Max by hitting the German Shepherd.
“All I could do was grab for rakes and brooms and stuff and just like let it go. I saw the neighbor over there, and she wasn’t doing nothing,” she said. However, it was too late as she couldn’t save her pet.
Thomas said she feared that it could have been a human being in their dog’s place. It was not known if the German Shepherd was quarantined.
