Pet Dog Tied, Throat Slit In Horrific Killing, Suspect Unknown
In a horrific incident in Helderkruin, South Africa, a pet dog was brutally killed after being bound and its throat slit. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Roodepoort Krugersdorp posted graphic photos of the lifeless body of the canine covered in blood.
“While a family in Helderkruin lay sleeping on Sunday [June 2] morning at 4 a.m. local time [10:00 pm EDT, Saturday] another family member was busy tying the families [sic] Boxer dogs [sic] legs together and cut the poor animals throat. No one know [sic] why, or what happened or what possessed the person do this to an innocent family pet,” the SPCA wrote in the post.
The family in question rushed the fatally wounded pet to the SPCA, but by then it was too late. The dog had bled to death.
“PLEASE we need the communities [sic] support to ensure these ‘criminals’ are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. To ensure a successful prosecution it takes money for the veterinary and pathologist reports,” the post added.
The organization added that it was the second brutal stabbing of a dog in the last two months. On April 27, a dog owner in Ruimsig, Roodepoort, was accused of stabbing one of his Boerboels to death and severely injuring another dog. Local law enforcement agencies and emergency services, including BCI Security, responded to the scene after being alerted about the incident and managed to save one of the dogs.
“At 7.26 a.m. this morning we received a report at an address where a mentally disturbed man had stabbed the dogs. BCI responded with various other service providers including ER24 and the SPCA,” BCI’s operations manager Rudi Holtzhausen said at the time. “We entered the property with the police on this huge property and found the man who is maybe in his late 40s or early 50’s. We found the place covered in blood and on the entrance was a Boerboel breed dog already dead.”
A second dog was found with stab wounds to the chest. “The dog was bleeding excessively,” he said. “We had to load the dog in one of our K9 bakkies and took him to the Ruimsig vet where a doctor from the vet was on standby waiting for him.”
