Pete Davidson Pokes Fun At Aaron Rodgers' Vaccination Claims On 'Saturday Night Live'
Pete Davidson poked fun at Aaron Rodgers on “Saturday Night Live.” During the most recent episode of the show, Davidson roasted the embattled NFL star’s vaccination claims as he appeared on “Justice With Judge Jeanine” as Rodgers.
The segment saw Davidson's Rodgers, appearing opposite Cecily Strong as Jeanine Pirro, grumbling about the “woke Mob” chasing him following his interview on the “Pat McAffee Show” on Friday. During the interview, he talked about his reasons for choosing not to get vaccinated, saying he consulted pal Joe Rogan for advice after testing positive for COVID-19. He also referenced Martin Luther King, Jr. and many others as he defended his position.
“It’s my body and my COVID,” Davidson’s Rodgers told Pirro. “I can give it to whoever I want.”
Rodgers missed Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs after testing positive for COVID-19. During his SNL stint, Davidson joked about the other consequences of Rodgers not getting vaccinated, saying, “It’s gotten so bad that State Farm called and they’re not even giving me the Rodgers rate!”
Much of the criticism received by Rodgers following his Friday interview stems from the fact that earlier in the season, he claimed he had been immunized against COVID-19. While his statement led many to believe he had been vaccinated, it was later revealed that he only received homeopathic treatment from his personal doctor and was denied an exemption from the NFL-NFL Players Association COVID-19 protocols because of his “unvaccinated” status.
“I never lied,” Davidson’s Rodgers said on SNL. “I took all my teammates into a huddle, got all their faces three inches away from my wet mouth, and told them, “Trust me. I’m more or less immunized. Go team!”
Davidson also joked about the backlash, saying, “Look, people can talk all they want. But at the end of the day, my record is still 7-1. Meaning, of the eight people I’ve infected, seven are fine.”
Rodgers’ case is currently being reviewed by the NFL, and he may face fines if found in violation of COVID-19 protocols. He may also be penalized by the league for attending an indoor Halloween party with other players while unvaccinated.
