Is Pete Davidson Quitting ‘SNL’? Comedian Says He’s Ready To Leave
Pete Davidson doesn’t sound thrilled to be at “Saturday Night Live.” The comedian made history as one of the youngest cast members when he joined in 2014 at just 20 years old, but now he believes he’s outgrown the NBC sketch comedy show.
In an interview with Charlamagne Tha God, Davidson was asked about leaving “SNL,” and he admitted that he has thought about it.
“You don’t ever want to pull the trigger too early,” Davidson noted. “Everybody’s always been like, ‘You’ll know when you know, and it’ll be all right.’ I personally think I should be done with that show because they make fun of me on it.”
Davidson acknowledged that he seems to be the butt of the joke whenever he is on, and he isn’t really laughing anymore. “I literally was just like, ‘Picture what it’s like to be made fun of and then cut to immediately,'” he added. “They think I’m [expletive] dumb. I’m literally painted out to be this big dumb idiot.”
The comedian felt it would be hypocritical to ask them to stop making fun of him, but he was pretty clear that he doesn’t feel like he belongs.
“I think everybody outgrows it,” Davidson said.
However, Davidson did not say he was quitting yet. It isn't clear when his contract ends.

Page Six reports that the 26-year-old isn’t too close with his fellow cast members and doesn’t contribute much in the “SNL” writers’ room. “The cast isn’t into him,” a source said. “He’s just there — he doesn’t add much.”
The outlet’s insiders also claim that Davidson is getting special treatment. The “Big Time Adolescence” star has reportedly gotten time off for movies like “Suicide Squad” as well as personal events like a friend’s wedding, something that’s apparently “unheard of” in Studio 8H.
“SNL” boss Lorne Michaels is like a father figure to Davidson. The comedian spoke very highly of the producer, despite what he said about being offended by recent material.
Davidson was prominently featured in promos for this week’s episode, which features Davidson’s good friend and former “SNL” writer John Mulaney as host. It doesn’t seem like Davidson is leaving “Saturday Night Live” just yet.
