KEY POINTS

  • PFL will be testing the waters of the pay-per-view market
  • The league's final card this year will feature six world championship bouts
  • PFL recruits Shane Burgos and Biaggio Ali Walsh are also set to compete at the same event

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) will be closing out its 2022 season with a huge bang as the promotion recently announced that this year's culminating extravaganza will be its first-ever card to be aired on pay-per-view.

The 2022 PFL World Championships, dubbed by the league as "MMA's Richest Night" will take place on November 25th, 2022 at the Hulu Theater in New York City.

The live event will feature PFL championship bouts in six weight divisions, where the winners will take home a whopping $1 million purse.

This will also be the organization's first foray into pay-per-view territory, a move that PFL CEO Peter Murray hinted at in various interviews earlier this year.

"This special pay-per-view holiday event is stacked with star talent and championship drama as PFL will deliver fans six world title fights with six belts and $6 million on the line", Murray said in the official release.

Headlining the card will be the PFL women's lightweight championship clash between two-time titleholder Kayla Harrison squaring off with Brazilian rival Larissa Pacheco.

Harrison will be gunning for a historic third-straight PFL championship, while Pacheco looks to avenge her prior losses at the hands of the undefeated star.

The affair will also feature Brendan Loughnane vs. Bubba Jenkins for the PFL featherweight championship, Ante Delija vs. Mateus Scheffel for the PFL heavyweight belt, Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs. Stevie Ray for the PFL lightweight title, Sadibou Sy vs. Dilano Taylor for the PFL welterweight strap, and Rob Wilkinson vs. Omari Akhmedov for the PFL light heavyweight hardware.

Apart from the six must-see world title bouts, the fight card will likewise see three of PFL's latest signings in action.

In a featherweight showcase, Shane Burgos will take on former UFC title contender and WSOF champion Marlon Moraes.

On the other hand, late boxing legend Muhammad Ali's grandson Biaggio Ali Walsh will compete in an amateur bout.

The 2022 PFL World Championships will be available exclusively on ESPN+ PPV at 8:00 PM ET, while the undercard will stream on ESPN+ starting at 6:00 PM ET.
