KEY POINTS

- This will be the league’s first set of shows outside of the United States
- The promotion has continuously pushed its efforts for global expansion
The Professional Fighters League (PFL) will continue to push its efforts for global expansion when the organization holds a card on foreign soil for the first time in its history this coming August.
Since its inception in 2017, the league has mainly held live events across the United States.
This season, the promotion heads to the United Kingdom for back-to-back stagings of the highly-anticipated 2022 PFL Playoffs.
The postseason will kick off with PFL 7 at the Hulu Theater in New York City on August 5th before flying to the Cardiff Motorpoint Arena in Wales for PFL 8 on August 13th.
A trip across the pond wraps up the overseas tour on August 20th, with PFL 8 taking place at the Copperbox Arena in London, England.
PFL CEO Peter Murray spoke about the importance of being able to bring the company to the UK in an interview with Mirror UK.
"I'm really proud of the brand, the team, and what we've accomplished to date. This is part of our evolution and game plan, continuing to grow the league around the world. It’s critically important to pay attention to the number one priority in Europe for us, which is the UK,” he said.
The UK has been a prime destination for premium MMA shows over the years, with outfits like the UFC and Bellator having already held events of their own in the country.
The PFL is just the latest promotion to bring MMA action to a UK crowd.
This season’s PFL Playoffs should be a treat for the fans as it could potentially feature a star-studded cast of fighters--all competing for a shot at fighting for a world championship and a million-dollar payday.
Big-name stars like two-time PFL champion Kayla Harrison, former UFC champion Anthony Pettis, ex-Bellator titleholder Rory MacDonald, and even London Olympics gold medalist Claressa Shields have a chance at being on the marquee for the league’s UK shows.
Apart from that, PFL also has a number of British talents on their roster, including 2021 semifinalist and Manchester native Brendan Loughnane, as well as up-and-comer Simeon Powell.
Both Loughnane and Powell are in a prime position to secure spots in the playoffs.
The league is currently gearing up for the continuation of its 2022 Regular Season, which begins with PFL 4 on Friday, June 17th at the Overtime Elite Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
PFL 4 can be seen live on ESPN and ESPN+ in the United States.
