Phil Collins and his ex-wife Orianne Cevey's friends would not be surprised if they eventually got back together despite their messy split and legal battle, a report says.

Collins and Cevey have been making headlines since October after it was reported that the musician wanted his ex-wife out of his Miami home following their July split. Despite Cevey marrying new husband Thomas Bates in August, however, some of their "friends" reportedly still believe that she and Collins could reconcile in the future.

"Orianne and Phil are the Liz and Dick of Miami," an unnamed source told Page Six, referring to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

"Orianne always protected him," the alleged "friend" added. "She took care of Phil when he was unwell. He has recently been a grouch, but he has been open about his health problems. His last tour was titled ‘Not dead yet’ after all. The truth is they need each other, I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up getting back together."

After divorcing in 2008, Collins and Cevey reconciled seven years later but never remarried. They split once more in July after the jewelry designer allegedly admitted to having an affair with Bates, whom she wed a month later in Las Vegas, per Page Six.

Collins had given her and Bates until Oct. 12 to vacate his $40 million mansion in Florida and sued her when she refused to leave. Cevey alleged that the property was half hers under a "verbal cohabitation agreement" and demanded $20 million to leave the mansion. She and her new husband have since agreed to move out by January.

Earlier this month, Cevey filed court documents claiming that Collins became abusive, depressed and addicted to painkillers and antidepressants during their relationship. She also claimed that her ex-husband was allegedly "incapable of having sex" and had stopped showering, brushing his teeth and dressing properly for nearly a year.

Collins has since denied all of Cevey's allegations.

"They are scandalous, scurrilous, unethical and, for the most part, patently false or grossly exaggerated," his lawyers wrote in a response filed in court.

"These false and scandalous allegations are again included only so that they can be delivered by defendants to the media to try to damage Phil Collins' reputation in an effort to extort money," they added.

Meanwhile, the judge presiding over the former couple’s case ordered them during their hearing on Oct. 28 to work out their differences in private over Zoom instead of taking their case to trial. The singer has agreed to the court-ordered meditation with Cevey, Daily Mail reported.

Collins and Cevey married in 1999 and share two sons, Nicholas, 19, and Matthew, 15.
