Philadelphia Eagles vs Detroit Lions, Where to Watch Sunday's NFL Showdown, Preview, Betting Odds
Turnover prone Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles host the struggling Detroit Lions Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field.
Vick was so determined to fix his fumbling issue he carried a ball everywhere he went this past week, and teammates were charged with trying to strip him at any time.
Vick has nine turnovers in the Eagles five games, with six interceptions and three fumbles, but 3-2 Philadelphia is still sitting in a tie for first place with the New York Giants in the NFC East.
Two of Vick’s fumbles came in Philadelphia’s 16-14 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, but neither led to Pittsburgh scores.
The Eagles held a 14-13 lead after Vick hit tight end Brent Celek for a two-yard touchdown, but the Steelers ended the game with a 14-play 64 yard drive capped by kicker Shaun Suisham’s 34-yard field goal as time expired.
Vick would go 20-for-30 for 175 yards and two scores, and running back LeSean McCoy rushed for 53 yards and caught two passes for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Detroit hopes Vick’s turnover problem isn’t quit solved yet, as they are try to avoid a four-game losing streak coming off their bye week.
The Lions stumbled against their NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings 20-13, failing to generate the passing offense that led the NFL a year ago, and their special teams gave up two massive kick-off and punt returns that Detroit could not recover from.
Minnesota’s Percy Harvin returned the opening kick-off 105 yards and Marcus Shrels brought a punt back 77-yards in the third quarter for a 20-6 Vikings lead.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 319 yards and for the Lions only touchdown, but was sacked five times for a loss of 33 yards, and couldn’t make a big play with top receiver Calvin Johnson, who caught five passes for 54 yards.
The game begins at 1 p.m. EDT and will be shown by FOX, or watch a live stream online by purchasing NFL Sunday Ticket Max.
Betting Odds: Philadelphia is favored by 4 points
Over/Under: 48 points
Prediction: When healthy and focused, Vick is one of the best all-around quarterbacks in the game. He should win his fight against turnovers Sunday, and McCoy will have a big day as well, as the Lions will continue to struggle and drop their fourth game in a row.
