The Philadelphia Phillies are exploring deals involving Jonathan Papelbon, a veteran pitcher who expects to be traded before Major League Baseball's July 31 trade deadline. "I would be surprised [if a trade doesn't happen]," Papelbon told MLB.com. "Yeah, that would be a pretty valid answer."

The 34-year-old right-hander, who has been with the Phillies since 2012 and has a 1.65 ERA and 14 saves in 31 appearances this year, also admitted that he would be disappointed if he’s not dealt soon.

A six-time MLB All-Star, Papelbon, who also played for the Boston Red Sox from 2005 to 20011, has a limited no-trade clause but said he is willing to go any MLB squad.

The Phillies are struggling with the worst record in the National League, 28 wins against 57 losses.
