Piers Morgan has announced a new gig, and it's already been met with criticism on social media.
Months after quitting "Good Morning Britain" following his controversial remarks about Meghan Markle, Morgan, 56, took to Twitter Friday to announce his new column, "Piers Morgan Uncensored," for The Sun.
"If you're a whining, privileged, illiberal, hypocritical, narcissistic, two-faced celebrity or politician, well bad news, I'm afraid, because I'm back," he said in a clip.
Ahead of the column's launch, the former TV host claimed that Markle "tried to cancel" him and warned that the Duchess of Sussex is in for a "very nasty surprise."
The announcement received mixed reactions on Twitter, with some slamming him for once again taking aim at Markle, while others showed their support to the controversial TV personality.
"Piers Morgan, who has a very odd fixation on Meghan Markle, is now threatening her," wrote Mike Sington, a former senior executive at NBCUniversal. "Guy needs professional help."
"Piers is obsessed with Meghan. Move on, dude. She has," one Twitter user commented.
"Is she still living rent-free in your head?!" another user wrote, adding multiple laughing emojis.
However, one fan commented, "Congratulations, Piers. Can’t wait to read your columns!!"
"What took you so long?" another asked.
Another fan said they still hope that he returns to TV. "Piers Morgan should be still presenting 'Good Morning Britain' with Susanna Reid. Nobody can replace him. He knows his job inside out. Very sadly missed from primetime television," the user wrote.
Morgan quit "Good Morning Britain" in March 2021 after then-co-star Alex Beresford called him out for continuing to "trash" Markle following her bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview with husband Prince Harry.
After the Duchess of Sussex opened up about her mental health struggles to Winfrey, Morgan said on his then-program: "I don't believe a word she says."
Beresford confronted Morgan over his relentless criticism of Markle and questioned whether he had any personal beef with the duchess.
"I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off," said Beresford. "Has she said anything about you after she cut you off? She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. And yet you continue to trash her."
Morgan stormed off the set soon after Beresford called him out, and ITV later announced that the former had decided to leave the program.
Last month, U.K. media regulator Office of Communications (Ofcom) announced that Morgan's comments about Markle on "GMB" drew 54,595 complaints last year, making it the most complained-about moment of 2021.
Responding to the news, Morgan tweeted, "Delighted to have perpetrated the most complained about moment on U.K. TV for 2021, especially because every single one of the absurd complaints was rejected. Thanks, Princess Pinocchio!"
Following a probe, Morgan had been cleared by the watchdog, which concluded that his remarks did not violate the broadcasting code on harm and offense.
