Pig's Head Prank In British Soccer Player Kenwyne Jones' Locker, Stoke City Club Launches Investigation [PHOTO]
A British soccer player allegedly smashed up a teammates' car after a “bloody pig’s head” was found in his locker.
Kenwyne Jones, a Trinidadian professional soccer player who plays for Britain's Stoke City, discovered a pig’s head wrapped in clothes in his locker. His girlfriend took to Twitter and blamed fellow teammate Glenn Whelan, the Guardian reports.
“A full internal investigation will be carried out and those responsible for any unacceptable behavior,” Stoke City said in a statement.
Jones is a Rastafarian and does not eat pork. His girlfriend, Kissa Abdullah, has posted numerous tweets about the incident.
“It just takes a minute to be sensitive to someone's beliefs no one says u can't have a sense of humour but let it be a joke! This wasn't! [sic]” she wrote.
A photo of the pig’s head was posted on winger Brek Shea’s Instagram account with the caption “Locker room banter gone wild!”
Team manager Tony Pulis says he plans on looking into the prank before the team's final game. He says team pranks are common but that he will get to the bottom of it.
"We have a smashing dressing room, and there are four or five lads who are always up to something. There is always banter going on,” he told BBC.
Team striker Michael Owen was the victim of another messy prank. He posted a photo on Twitter of his black Mercedes C63 covered in eggs and flour.
“This is what I will miss once I hang up my boots! Looks like I may be delayed getting to the match,” he posted on May 12. Owen plans on retiring after Sunday’s game.
