Pippa Middleton just announced the name of her son weeks after giving birth.

Katie Hind, a journalist for Daily Mail, reported that Middleton and James Matthews’ son’s full name is Arthur Michael William Matthews. The name Michael is a touching tribute to Middleton’s dad, as well as to Matthews’ younger brother, who passed away while climbing Mount Everest in 1999.

Michael Matthews went missing on the mountain’s infamous Death Zone while attempting to become the youngest Briton to climb the world’s highest peak. Following his sudden death, Middleton and her husband have committed their lives to fundraise for poverty-stricken areas in Africa and Asia through the Michael Matthews Foundation.

The name William may have been a tribute to Middleton’s older sister Kate Middleton’s husband Prince William. However, this has not been deliberately stated. Middleton gave birth to Arthur in October just hours before Meghan Markle’s pregnancy was announced by Kensington Palace.

Middleton, who is listed as an author on her son’s birth certificate, gave birth at St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing. This is also where the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to all of her three children. Arthur is the first cousin of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Baby Arthur is also the cousin of James’ and Vogue Williams’ son, Spencer Matthews, who was born in September. Arthur and Spencer are technically batchmates with Prince Louis, who was born on April 23.

Middleton and Matthews tied the knot at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield in May of last year. At that time, a friend close to the couple told People, that they have always wanted to have children and lead quiet lives.

And when it comes to motherhood, Middleton said that she will be relying on her older sister for help and advice.

“Kate has so much knowledge the share. She’s a walking baby encyclopedia at this point,” a royal insider told US Weekly.
