Pippa Middleton Cried During Tusk Trust's Safaricom Marathon, Calls It Tough
Pippa Middleton reportedly is a sports freak. She not only likes watching sports events but also likes to participate. Before making appearances at the Wimbledon in London, Middleton participated in Tusk Trust's Safaricom Marathon in Kenya. She recently wrote about her experience in Hello magazine and explained why the marathon was an arduous task.
“I was exhausted. My eyes welled up with tears. ... I turned right and thought of the schoolchildren, the rhinos, elephants and lions, the incredible Tusk projects -- the reason I was doing this. It was tough -- tougher than anything I’d been faced with before and required every inch of my energy, stamina and stubbornness,” she wrote. She also added taking part in the marathon was part of her life plan. She wanted to challenge herself and run at an altitude of 5,550 feet where the temperature crossed 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). The 31-year-old socialite completed the marathon in 3 hours, 56 minutes and stood 30th among 200 competitors.
Earlier this year, she had participated in the 40th London-to-Brighton Bike Ride to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. She is a keen cyclist and was happy to be part of something to help people in need. “I am thrilled to be involved in this milestone year of the London-to-Brighton Bike Ride. This event is testament to the fact that cycling is such a great inclusive sport that everyone can enjoy and at the same time, through the money raised, it continues to help millions of people affected by heart disease,” she said, BHF reported.
Middleton was recently spotted watching the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final Saturday. She wore a seahorse-pattern Tory Burch dress for the event and was seen enjoying the match between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer with her friends.
