Pit Bull Brutally Attacks Kitesurfer, Leaves Man With Deep Wounds

In a horrific incident, a kitesurfer was mauled by a pit bull off the coast of Argentina. The incident, which was caught on camera, took place off the coast of Punta Rasa, in San Clemente del Tuyu.

The footage, which was posted by the Daily Mail, shows the canine chasing the kitesurfer as he glides across the water. At one point, the dog leaps and grabs the man's hand. He then sinks its teeth into the man's upper arm. The kitesurfer, identified as Gustavo Cervino, tried to wrestle the animal off.

"I had to open its mouth with my other hand. I do not know why it let me go, maybe because of the water," Cervino told local media over the weekend. "It tried to bite me in the neck but I managed to keep it at bay with my hand... If it had bitten me in the neck I wouldn't have lived to tell the tale."

Following the attack, Cervino was left with a bleeding arm and had to be helped by a passerby. He required 18 stitches as the bite was deep.

"The owner of the dog must have been there. I did not see him because I had to go to the emergency room at the hospital, I had a very deep cut," the kitesurfer said.

Cervino reported the incident to the police and is now recovering from his injuries. It remains unclear if charges will be filed against the dog's owner, who was not identified.

Pit bulls are ferocious canines and there have been several unprovoked incidents where these animals have attacked humans.

In December, two pit bulls attacked two men in Indian Trail, North Carolina, leaving one of them hospitalized. The man was visiting a friend when he was “viciously attacked” by the dogs. The homeowner tried to intervene in order to save his friend, but he was also bitten on the arm.

In August, a two-year-old boy was mauled by a pair of pit bull dogs inside a Philadelphia home and later succumbed to his wounds at a local hospital. Police said the dog initially bit an 18-year-old girl, digging its teeth into her leg and not letting go. Next, the dog attacked a 17-year-old girl and when both the victims’ mothers tried to intervene but they were bitten too.
