Animal Planking is picturing animals that are lying down or resting and is similar to planking or the lying down game. It refers to mimicking a wooden plank.

Planking is an activity consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the Internet is an integral part of the game.

To constitute good planking, players must maintain the rigidity of their body. Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play.

Many participants in planking since early 2011 have photographed the activity on unusual locations such as atop poles, roofs and vehicles, while some “plankers” engage in the activity by planking only their upper body and feet while leaving the back suspended.

Pet owners always know that their pets position themselves in planking posture when it wants to sleep. These pets in planking posture are photographed and uploaded on Facebook and other dedicated sites that is termed by many as an Internet craze.
