The all weekend EDS Credit Union Plano balloon festival for 2009 begins Friday at 4pm CDT marking its 30th anniversary will begin today in Plano, Texas.

The skies are expected to be filled with more than 60 colorful hot air balloons and more than 95,000 people are expected to attend the event that has named Plano the Hot Air Balloon capital of Texas.

The event was founded in 1979 and has generated more than $2 million for area non-profit groups and organizations through the years.

The festival serves as one of the area's most successful fundraisers for area non-profit groups and organizations.
