  • The accessory's presence in the physical store adds excitement to the wait

While Sony has not yet officially released the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 next-generation console, netizens have already spotted its DualSense controllers at retail stores.

Sony is still weeks away from officially launching the new PlayStation 5 gaming console, but a Twitter user who goes by the name Destruct has already seen the console's controllers inside WalMart, Tom's Guide reported.

The Twitter user shared a few photos of the boxes of the next-gen game console's controllers as they sat inside a shelf beside other accessories, such as gaming headsets and docks.

According to Destruct, the images were taken from another Twitter user named c'est (@luisram2876) who, in a separate tweet, said “I physically went to Walmart yesterday and took the pictures there.”

It's currently unclear how long the accessories have been in Walmart, but the tweet indicates that it has been there at least for a couple of days. The accessories' presence in the store also provides compelling proof that the new gaming machine is arriving real soon.

Design

Sony has redesigned the DualSense controller to make it look just as interesting as the new PS5. The company also added a few features such as detailed haptic feedback on the triggers, a new Create button that will make it easier for players to share screenshots and game clips with others, as well as a new built-in microphone that will be useful for multiplayer chat.

Speaking of multiplayer, the presence of DualSense controllers in stores like Walmart indicate that Sony might be hoping to make it easier for players to enjoy local multiplayer gaming.

Release dates

Sony plans to sell the PS5 starting next month, first for select key markets on Nov. 12 then to all locations globally on Nov. 19 – nine days after Microsoft opens sales for the Xbox Series X. The company said consumers can get the PS5 Digital Edition for $399 and the model with Ultra HD Blu-Ray Disc Drive for $499.

Both models offer the same processing power, which can be expected to produce immersive visual and audio experiences.
