PlayStation Experience 2017 Schedule, Where To Get Tickets & More
Sony is now gearing up for the PlayStation Experience 2017 where it will be revealing and promoting new PlayStation games and game-related merchandise. In August, the company announced important information about the annual event including the dates, venue and ticket pricing. This week, Sony is back with more specific details about the event.
On Monday, Sony Interactive Entertainment America’s social media director Sid Shuman published a post on the PlayStation Blog regarding the PlayStation Experience 2017. Shuman said that the fourth PSX event will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California on Dec. 9 and 10.
Interestingly, for those who bought the Early Bird ticket for the event, they should come to the venue on Dec. 8, Friday, for an exclusive presentation at 8 p.m. Pacific Time. The limited early bird ticket started to become available for purchase in August for $65. The ticket provides access to the special presentation and the chance to get up-close and personal with game developers and PlayStation personalities, as pointed out by Gematsu.
Shuman revealed that during the exclusive presentation, PlayStation Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden will present an update to attendees. Special guests are also showing up at the private gathering. There’s also mention of a few surprises and game updates.
For those who just want to attend the regular two-day event, they should be willing to spend $75 for the ticket. The general tickets will provide holders with admission to the activities that are scheduled to happen on Dec. 9, Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Dec. 10, Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
VG 24/7 has learned that on Sunday, there will be a special tournament stage dedicated to the Capcom Cup. “Street Fighter 5” matches will be carried out the entire day, and the activity will conclude with the Grand Finals in the evening. At stake is the $250,000 prize and the title of being the 2017 Street Fighter 5 World Champion.
Sony has previously revealed that PlayStation Experience 2017 attendees will be able to play games on PS4 Pro connected to Sony 4K HDR TVs. Now apart from the hands-on gameplay with upcoming PS4 and PS VR titles, Shuman says that attendees will also be given the opportunity to dive deeper into the biggest PlayStation games by means of a very immersive interactive experience through virtual reality.
Shuman has also revealed that this year’s PSX will feature a new slate of panels who are going to present more developer insights related to the biggest announcements at the Paris Games Week. Though the lineup of participating developers has yet to be finalized, Shuman can already confirm that Sucker Punch Productions and Media Molecule are coming to the event.
Attendees should also expect new competition areas for “GT Sport” and a bigger PlayStation Gear Store that would offer merchandise not sold online. Meanwhile, other details about the developer panels, autograph signings and many other activities will be announced in the coming weeks.
The PlayStation Experience 2017 does not accept babies or kids; all attendees must be 18 or older. For those who are interested to go to the convention, tickets are still available online. To learn more or to make a purchase, click here.
