PlayStation Vita: 10 Important FAQs
PS Vita is the next generation of handheld gaming. While the device is fast becoming one of the most sought after handheld gaming devices on the planet with 1.4 million units sold, there are few questions about the device that remain to be important before buying it.
Here are the top 10 questions and their answers.
How to get PC/Mac Recognize PS Vita?
To connect your PS Vita system to a PC or Mac for operations such as copying data, you will have to install Content Manager Assistant for PlayStation on your PC or Mac. However, if you have Content Manager Assistant installed and still can't connect, download Content Manager Assistant for PC or Mac here and follow the instructions. Make sure that the PC is connected to the net as well (note that the PS logo is facing upward when connecting the cable to the PS Vita system).
Next when the device has been recognized, you can carry on with the normal content copying via the Content Manager.
What should be done if the PS Vita's touchscreen picks up random motions?
Make sure that the PS Vita isn't on top of a conductive object (example: a metal plate). Remember that if the system is placed on an easy electricity conducting material, the touchscreen may not work as expected. Also, make sure that you're only using your fingertips and that the screen is clean or free from any obstructions that might restrict conductivity.
Why can't the PS Vita read the Game Card read?
Try turning the system off by pressing and holding the power button for about two seconds and then tap Power Off. Next, remove the Game Card and make sure that it has been inserted correctly before reinserting it and turning on the system. However, if this doesn't help, then you might need to update the System Software. You can download the update directly here.
How does the PS Vita acquire location details? Does it differ with models?
Well, the method differs with different models and the Vita uses three different methods to acquire location data. For more accurate location data for more enjoyable games and applications, the 3G/Wi-Fi model is recommended. Later when location data is obtained using Wi-Fi information, check if you are in an area with Wi-Fi location service.
PS Vita won't turn on/off, what to do?
There are several reasons why the PS Vita won't start. First, try holding the power button for 5 seconds and when the power comes on, the PS button shall light up blue for one time and the initial setting screen will be displayed. If that doesn't happen, check out the next FAQ in the list. Other reasons for this may also include the fact that you might have kept the handheld in standby mode so wait for a few moments after pressing the power button.
For turning the device off, press and hold the power button for two seconds. Next, you'll see an option to Power Off. Tap this. If the system still does not turn off or you can't see the Power Off option, press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds until the screen turns off. After a moment, press and hold the power button for five seconds to turn on your system.
No picture on the PS Vita. Why is this happening?

After a moment, press and hold the power button for five seconds to turn on your system.
Why are the Analog Sticks not working properly?

Also check if the Dual Analog Sticks are calibrated and if you rotate the sticks in a circular motion where Dual Analog Sticks are enabled, they will be reset and adjusted to their optimal condition.
Cannot use 3G services on PS Vita, why?
First make sure that the SIM card and the network provider support 3G services for mobile data. Check with the service provider to ensure the plan being used is supported for PS Vita.
The buttons on PS Vita are problematic, what to do?
Remember that as many of PS Vita's functions are controlled by the touchscreen, it will depend on what application the device is currently running. There are some applications or menus that can only be operated using the touchscreen. However, the buttons should work normally in Welcome Park. You will know that because each action button will make a percussive sound.
An un-lit/always lit pixel is on the touchscreen. Is this a problem?
No. The OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) touchscreen is manufactured using high-precision technologies. However, while it's pixel count is over 99.99%, the appearance of a dead pixel (black dots) or stuck pixels (red, blue, or green dots) is considered normal for this display.
