Babies, beware. Playtex has issued a recall for more than 1 million of its pacifier holders this week due to a potential choking hazard.

According to a press release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Wednesday, an estimated 1.25 million of the Dover, Del.-based company's “Playtex green pacifier clip holders” have been recalled in the U.S., with 150,000 also recalled in Canada, due to a potential choking hazard. “The pacifier holder clips can crack and a small part can break off, which poses a choking hazard to small children,” said the CPSC.

Playtex released a statement regarding the voluntary recall on their website Wednesday, saying, “We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution, because the health and safety of the people who use our products is our top priority.”

The CPSC describes the recalled products as “pacifier holder clips” that attach children’s pacifiers to items such as clothing, diaper bags and strollers. The recalled products reportedly include an adjustable clip, a ribbon and a clear plastic ring that stretches to fit pacifiers. The items can be identified by a Playtex logo on the clip and three designs: a green clip with a monkey figure, a pink clip with a flower and a blue clip with a tow truck.

Despite issuing the recall following 99 complaints regarding the defective products “cracking or breaking,” the CSPC has confirmed that no injuries have been reported.

The defective items were reportedly sold at major retailers such as Walmart, Target and Burlington Coat Factory, and Amazon.com, among other retail locations, from July 2010 through October 2013. The items retailed for an estimated $3 each.

Customers affected by the recall are advised to immediately discontinue use of the items and contact Playtex directly to receive a refund. Playtex customer service can be contacted online or toll-free by calling: (888) 220-2075 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET.
