  • Xiaomi filed a trademark application for the POCO F2 in China
  • Xiaomi submitted the trademark application of POCO F2 on Dec. 2019
  • Based on the release pattern of the company, the POCO F2 could arrive in Feb. or Mar. 2020

2019 was not a good year for fans of Pocophone F1 who were hoping to see the successor of the flagship killer smartphone. Xiaomi did not announce the POCO F2 last year but, it confirmed that more news about the much-awaited smartphone would be available this year. Earlier today, a new report reveals a solid proof that POCo F2 really exists, and could arrive sooner than expected.

On the social networking site Twitter, a user named The Tech Guy shares some screenshots showing the trademark application filed by Xiaomi for POCO F2. Based on the images, the application was filed on Dec. 4, 2019, at the China Trademark Office under application number 4280005. The initial argument of some fans about this is that it could be fake considering that the trademark was filed in China, where the POCO F1 is not even available.

It is worth noting that Xiaomi also filed a trademark application for the POCO F1 in China in Jun. 2018 before it was officially launched in Aug. 2018. The Xiaomi trademark application, if legit, is by far the most solid proof we have that POCO F2 indeed exists and probably in the works. The Chinese smartphone maker is still silent about the highly anticipated successor of the POCO F1 until now.

The lack of the company’s announcement about the smartphone appears like it is not releasing anytime soon. However, based on the release pattern of Xiaomi on POCO F1, it appears that we might be seeing the POCO F2 sooner than expected. As mentioned earlier, Xiaomi filed a trademark for the POCO F1 in Jun 2018, and a couple of months later, the device was released.

If the trademark application for the POCO F2 was filed on Dec. 2019, then we can assume that it could arrive in Feb. or Mar. 2020. The date also makes sense, considering that earlier reports suggested that the anticipated release of the Xiaomi MI 10 series in India is no longer happening. Perhaps Xiaomi postponed the release of the Mi 10 series in the country to give way for the arrival of the POCO F2.
