Police Apprehend Sex Offender Accused of Assaulting Teenager
The New York City Police Department announced Thursday that they apprehended a man in connection with sexually assaulting a teenage boy and posing as a police officer.
The identity of the suspect has not been released. However, Commissioner Ray Kelly stated that he was a sex offender on parole, according to NY1. He had served time in 1999 for a similar attack.
He was in a van. They saw him in a van, they tried to pull him over, he got away, said Kelly, reported NY1. They then spotted him on the street not 15 blocks later. He did have in fact in his possession a police badge, a police shield of an active duty police officer. That's under investigation.
The 15-year-old boy was attacked Friday in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn. Police say the man pretended to be a police officer, even flashing a badge, ordering the boy into his van.
