Police Offer Reward for Second Suspect in Officer's Death
Police officials are offering a $10,000 reward for the robbery suspect after a 22-year veteran of the NYPD was shot and killed in the Cypress Hills section of Brooklyn.
The NYPD responded to a break-in on Pine Street around 2:15 a.m. Two man allegedly wearing ski masks entered the building and attacked the 25-year-old resident, stealing his cash and watch, reported NY1. When police arrived, the two suspects hid.
Officer Peter Figoski, 47, was at the bottom of a stairwell that led from the streets into the apartment. One of the suspects pulled a weapon and shot the officer in the face, killing him. The alleged shooter was subdued by the officers partner, but the other suspect got away.
I just ask New Yorkers to keep Officer Figoski and his family and the entire NYPD family in their prayers and thoughts. And because of Officer Figoski and the thousands of other men and women in the NYPD ranks New York is the nation's safest big city year after year, said Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
