Porn For The Blind: Pornhub Launches Explicit Audio For Visually Impaired
That pornography is big business is no secret, but it may be about to get bigger. No, we are not talking about virtual reality porn, which has already been around for some time now. We are talking about adult entertainment aimed at the visually impaired who, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), number about 285 million globally.
Some 39 million people are blind and another 246 million have low vision, WHO says on its website. And one of the largest pornography websites, Pornhub.com, announced Wednesday, a new category called Described Video that targets precisely that demographic.
A video released by the website on YouTube provides a sample of what to expect from the described videos. The category “features audio descriptions of our top performing videos geared toward the visually impaired. The inaugural collection of 50 enhanced-audio videos stems from the Pornhub’s top viewed straight, female-friendly, gay, bi and transsexual videos, and features voiceovers done by both professional voice actors as well as Pornhub Aria, Pornhubs’s social media personality,” the accompanying description reads.
The audio descriptions include details of the scene, including “the models, their actions, position changes, outfits, and settings,” all laid over the original audio of the clip. Among the videos in the new category is also Kim Kardashian’s infamous sex tape.
The move is a part of Pornhub Cares, the company’s philanthropic arm, which says the “campaign seeks to help institute a larger dialogue within Pornhub’s community with regards to how we can not only better serve the visually impaired, but to also understand how to make the site accessible to all.”
In the past, Pornhub Cares has taken up other causes. It launched a breast awareness campaign called “Save the Boobs” where it donated $75,000 to charities working in the field, and an environmental campaign called “Pornhub Gives America Wood,” a tree-planting drive. It also supported a drive against domestic violence and provides a $25,000 scholarship.
The company has also made news with other plans it has announced previously, such as shooting the first adult entertainment film in space (already titled “Sexploration”) and a wearable device that can charge small electronic devices (like cell phones) through the kinetic energy generated by masturbation.
