Porn star Riley Reid has revealed her goals for 2021 weeks before the New Year's arrival.
On Thursday, Reid took to Instagram to share new photos of herself as well as what she wants to achieve in the coming year. The 29-year-old adult star, whose real name is Ashley Mathews, said she wants to work on her sobriety and hopes to become a "better version" of herself.
"Going sober for 2021," she told her 3.7 million Instagram followers. "I want to be a better version of myself and I know I can only achieve that if I take better care of my mind and body."
Reid added that she doesn't like how alcohol and marijuana affect her body and personality.
"As much as I want to deny it smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol changes who I am from my energy levels to my moods," she explained. "I cry more and am sad more, I feel more alone & withdrawn from the world yet I keep up pretending it’s making me feel better when every day it makes me feel worse than it did the day before."
Reid shared that she had been sober for a year but failed to maintain. But she will try to stay away from alcohol and marijuana for a longer period this time around.
"Now I want to go sober for 5 years. I want to be the best version of myself possible & I know being clear in my mind will help me achieve this," the porn star concluded her post.
Reid's fans left her encouraging messages after she shared her 2021 goals.
"You radiate positivity and growth, you got this," one commented.
"As a recovering heroin addict and huge fan I stand with you Ashley. You got this," another wrote.
"I believe in you gorgeous," a third user commented.
This is not the first time Reid has shared her desire to become a better person. In a post back in October, she wrote about experiencing changes in her life that opened her eyes to the person she wanted to be.
"I want to be a better woman," she wrote. "I want to use my voice for positive change in sex work for both women and men. I am sad it took me this long to realize the person I want to become but I’m here working on being a better version of myself now & you can too."
Reid also announced that she wanted to start a support group for single women sex workers. She admitted that she also struggled with family, dating and identity issues as a porn star and wants to help out those who are experiencing the same.
