Portland Woman Allegedly Runs Over, Kills Husband In Fred Meyer Parking Lot
A woman in Portland allegedly killed her husband by intentionally running over him in the parking lot of a supermarket.
The authorities responded to the parking lot of Fred Meyers in North Lombard Street on Friday night after receiving reports of an accident, the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement. Upon arrival, the officers found a man, later identified as 48-year-old Thurston Harris, pinned under a car.
Portland Fire and Rescue soon arrived and removed the man from under the vehicle. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
"On Aug. 27, 2021 at 8:54p.m., officers from North Precinct were dispatched to the parking lot of a grocery store in the 6800 block of North Lombard Street on the report of an injury accident. Officers located an adult male pinned under a vehicle. Portland Fire and Rescue responded and were able to remove the person from under the vehicle. They determined he was deceased," the statement said.
Portland Police Homicide Unit Detectives investigated the incident and took the man’s wife, 49-year-old Tera Harris, into custody for running over her husband with an intention to kill.
"The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy and found that Harris died from blunt force trauma to the torso and ruled his death a homicide," police said in the statement.
The motive behind the crime was being investigated.
The accused faces multiple charges, including second-degree domestic violence murder and domestic violence unlawful use of a weapon, KGW8 reported. The woman remained in Multnomah County Detention Center as of Sunday, and details regarding her bail plea were not released.

Earlier this year, a man in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu slit his wife's throat and ran over her, suspecting her of cheating on him. The woman was rushed to a local hospital, where she succumbed to injuries. The accused was taken into custody and charged with murder.
