Post Malone has achieved a lot of success in his 24 years of life. Success, however, doesn't equate to having a perfect life.

Speaking to GQ Style as their spring/summer issue cover star, the chart-topping artist opened up about the surprising reasoning behind his face tattoos.

"I'm a ugly-[expletive] [expletive]...it does maybe come from a place of insecurity," he admitted. "To where I don't like how I look, so I'm going to put something cool on there so I can look at myself and say, 'You look cool, kid,' and have a modicum of self-confidence, when it comes to my appearance."

The "White Iverson" rapper also revealed that, in addition to feeling down about his appearance, he struggled for a long time with his mental health.

"Middle school, I would cry myself to sleep every...day," Posty shared. "High school, the same thing. I tried to drink some beers to get rid of that [expletive], but it just never goes away. And I don't think that's anybody's fault; it has to do with something predisposed in you."

These days, the "Sunflower" singer describes himself as "crazy," adding, "It has exacerbated over the past years, since [my first album] Stoney."

Despite the many options available to help assist him with these struggles, though, he seemed hesitant to seek treatment out of fear that his music would suffer.

"I am, now -- I'm trying," Malone answered when asked if he's getting help. "It's difficult. Through my songs, I can talk about whatever I want. But sitting here, face-to-face, it's difficult."

The spring/summer 2020 issue of GQ Style hits newsstands March 3.
