Pot Problem: Cannabis Recalled Over Possible Salmonella Contamination, Allergy Concerns
A number of marijuana products have been recalled over possible contamination of Salmonella and Aspergillus at several cannabis dispensaries and establishments in Arizona, according to the state’s Department of Health Services.
The affected cannabis products have not caused any illness to date, but health officials said it is making the recall “out of an abundance of caution.”
Salmonella can cause diarrhea that can be bloody, fever, and stomach cramps. Some people may also experience symptoms of nausea, vomiting, or headache. Symptoms from ingesting Salmonella typically start within six hours to six days of infection and can last four to seven days after handling the contaminated product.
Aspergillus can cause an allergic reaction or infection in individuals that are already sick with another illness. Symptoms can range from asthma or cold-like symptoms to fever and chest pain.
The affected cannabis products included in the recall include the cannabis brands Harvest Platinum, Modern Flower, Sol Flower Dispensaries and Establishments, EHF (Elephant Head Farms), Mohave Cannabis, Tru Infusion Flower, and The Pharm.

The Arizona Department of Health Services is urging consumers to dispose of the recalled marijuana. The potentially contaminated cannabis should not be ingested, inhaled, or consumed.
If a consumer has consumed any of the recalled products or has any of the described symptoms for Salmonella or Aspergillus infection, they should contact their healthcare provider or seek emergency medical treatment.
The recalled marijuana products were found to be positive for Salmonella or Aspergillus in independent third-party laboratory tests.
