KEY POINTS

  • The Lakers and Knicks have reportedly touched on potential trade scenarios
  • The Lakers could make sense for Cam Reddish, Derrick Rose and Evan Fournier
  • Russell Westbrook has unsurprisingly been mentioned again as a possible trade bait

The Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks have not been off to a good 2022-23 NBA season, a reason why they have been mentioned as teams to watch before December 15.

For those who may not be aware, the said date is a big day for free agents who were signed before the current NBA season started.

According to the league's Collective Bargaining Agreement, a free agent who signs with a new organization cannot be traded for three months or December 15, whichever is later.

Hence, the Lakers and Knicks could pull off something on that said day, and according to Ian Begley of SNYTV, both teams have touched on possible trade scenarios.

One of those is a potential three-team trade according to the scribe.

"One thing worth noting, the Knicks and Lakers touched base recently. One of the deals would have required a third team to complete. I'm not sure how far along they got on that deal but we know that the Lakers, in the past, have shown interest in Cam Reddish since Reddish has been traded to New York," Begley claimed.

A player that could pique the interest of the Lakers is Cam Reddish. The 23-year-old has been on the radar of the Lakers.

However, a huge void on the Lakers' roster is the point guard position.

Derrick Rose has been identified as a possible target, a move that would ironically reunite him with LeBron James

Rose and James previously played together for the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2017-18 NBA season.

Other names being floated include Julius Randle and Evan Fournier. From the end of Los Angeles, Russell Westbrook has unsurprisingly been mentioned once more.

A common thing that these players hold is their huge contracts.

There are a lot of potential trade scenarios, some of which may not involve the aforementioned players.

Recall that the names of Kendrick Nunn and Patrick Beverly were also mentioned recently, a move that would possibly involve the Lakers' future picks.

For now, it would be best to take these with a grain of salt. Big moves may or may not happen once the December 15 deadline is here.
