Pottermore Countdown - Ready for Giant Treasure Hunt?
With the 30 owls on Pottermore's Youtube page, the whole world awaits J.K. Rowling's announcement that will break the silence within the next hour.
It's been a long week ever since a mysterious message has appeared from J.K. Rowling on the Pottermore website. With the coming soon, two owls on Pottermore.com redirect the viewers to a Youtube page that counts down the time till the official announcement of J.K. Rowling's new project.
The owls are gathering . . . Find out why soon.
We will find out really soon.
Meanwhile, a leaked memo came to TheTimes of London stating that Pottermore can be an online game that revolves around Harry Potter's universe. The Guardian speculated that Pottermore is a giant treasure hunt that gives users clues which will lead them to prizes hidden in the real world.
That'll be exciting.
Aspiring wizards the world over can hope to find an undisclosed number of magic wands stashed throughout the UK and US, and possibly other countries. It is not yet clear if the treasure hunt is Pottermore itself or a marketing drive for another product, and details about the game remain hazy, the Guardian said.
Other news sites have reported that the memo indicates Pottermore could be an online game similar to World of Warcraft, in which players control a character and interact with others in an online world.
However, a spokeswoman for J.K. Rowling said the memo leaked to the press was not accurate and was taken from an outdated document. The British press have been very imaginative in their interpretation of the document, but I can categorically say the project is not a Treasure Hunt or a game, spokeswoman Rebecca Salt told the Technology blog of Los Angeles Times.
Now that the announcement is nearer than ever, fans are creating quite a buzz on Twitter.
Many are waiting desperately, it seems.
If the #Pottermore countdown ends and takes longer than 2 seconds for the announcement to load, ill make someones face melt like in Scanners, said @CallMeSirius.
pretty sure twitter will explode in 17 minutes,” said @phips16.
My boys are up early for the #pottermore announcement. Seventeen minutes to go! said @FamilyBites.
Yes, expect some silent explosion on the web at 7 a.m. EST.
That's when Ms. Rowling holds a press conference at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Her spokeswoman instructed reporters in an e-mail that Ms. Rowling would not allow one-on-one interviews. Filming, recording and photography will also be banned from the news conference.
I am sure it was not just me who dreamt so vividly about Pottermore last night. Since we are left with less than 10 more minutes to dream, here is what my dream predicts the Pottermore project to be - a virtual online Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where you can learn all the awesome magics. In the dream, I was battling hard with the exam, thinking, this is harder to deal with than the reality.
