Power Rangers Star, Ricardo Medina Jr., Arrested For Allegedly Killing Roommate With Sword
A former Power Rangers star has been arrested on suspicion of fatally stabbing his roommate, Joshua Sutter, with a sword. Los Angeles police officials say Ricardo Medina Jr. was jailed on Sunday after Sutter's death, TMZ reported.
Medina, who played the Red Power Ranger, allegedly had an altercation with Sutter, after the former went to his bedroom with his girlfriend. Sutter then reportedly forced his way into Medina’s room and was stabbed once in the abdomen with a sword. The incident took place Saturday afternoon in Palmdale, California.
“The detectives on the case have confirmed that (Medina) portrayed a Red Power Ranger,” Amber Smith, the Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy, said in a statement, the Los Angeles Daily News reported.
After Sutter was injured, Medina reportedly called emergency services and remained on the scene until authorities arrived. He turned himself in to custody and was reportedly interviewed by detectives and booked at the Palmdale sheriff’s station. His bail was set at $1 million. Sutter was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Medina’s agent, Gar Lester, told the Los Angeles Times that he found the allegations shocking.
“He’s been my friend and client for 12 years and he’s a great guy,” Lester said Sunday. “He’s great to his dog, he’s great to his people. He’s really a super person.”
According to his IMDb page, Medina portrayed the Red Lion Wild Force Ranger on Power Rangers Wild Force, as well as the character Deker in Power Rangers Samurai, among other acting roles.
