Powerball Winning Numbers 2016: One Winning Ticket Sold In $429M Jackpot
A Powerball ticket sold in New Jersey has matched all six numbers in Saturday night’s drawing worth $429.6 million, the Associated Press (AP) reported early Sunday, citing Powerball officials. The jackpot is the ninth-highest in the U.S. lottery price history, according to the officials.
The winning Powerball numbers were 5-25-26-44-66 with the Powerball number is 9. The winner and the exact location of where the ticket was sold should be known later Sunday, Powerball spokeswoman Kelly Cripe said, according to AP.
The jackpot of $429.6 million is also the largest since a record $1.6 billion payout in January.
The ticket-buying late Saturday increased the jackpot by about $15 million, to an estimated $429.6 million. In addition to 44 states where Powerball is played, people in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands also participate in the lottery.
The odds of winning at Powerball are one in 292 million, which, according to statistics experts, means that an American is about 25 times more likely to become the next president of the United States than to win the lottery, Reuters reported.
