The winner of the 2020 Kentucky Derby is favored to win the Preakness Stakes Saturday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.

Usually the second leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness is the final leg in this year’s trio of races because of the altered horse racing schedule during the coronavirus pandemic. Tiz the Law won the Belmont Stakes on June 20, but came up just short in the Kentucky Derby on Sept. 5.

Authentic won the 146th Run for the Roses, ending Tiz the Law’s bid to become the 14th Triple Crown winner. One day before Saturday’s race, Authentic leads the 11-horse field with +180 odds to finish in first place.

Tiz the Law is not competing in the Preakness.

Art Collector is considered to be Authentic’s top competition with +250 odds. Art Collector was expected to be one of the top challengers in the Kentucky Derby, but the horse missed the race with an injury.

There’s a gap between Authentic and Art Collector and the rest of the field. Swiss Skydiver and Thousand Words are tied for third with +600 odds to win the Preakness.

War of Will won the 2019 Preakness Stakes with +500 odds on the day of the race.

Mr. Big News has the fifth-best odds at +1200. NY Traffic and Max Player both have +1500 odds. Pneumatic has +2000 odds.

Excession, Jesus’ Team, and Liveyourbeastlife are the biggest long shots with +3000 odds.

There was $79.4 million wagered on the 2020 Kentucky Derby, casino.org reported.
