Pregnant 'Ellen' Star Sophia Grace Brownlee Slams Critics Who Frown At Her Pregnancy
"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" star Sophia Grace Brownlee's recent pregnancy news was met with criticism but the teen soon-to-be-mom is not letting negativity weigh her down.
"I feel like 19 is quite young, obviously, to have a baby," Brownlee told E! News exclusively. "Usually most people are like, 'You should have babies when you're 30 and you're married and you live in your own house,' which is completely fine. But obviously, everyone's gonna have their different opinions."
Brownlee announced her pregnancy Saturday on her YouTube channel revealing that she is already 21 weeks pregnant and only has "four months left to go" before she gives birth.
On Twitter, fans shared varied reactions to the social media star who rose to fame when she and cousin Rosie McClelland performed a cover of Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in 2011 wearing pink tutus and tiaras. The duo became regulars on the show and interviewed many celebrities in their segment, "Tea Time With Sophia Grace & Rosie."
The pair also released a book titled "Tea Time with Sophia Grace and Rosie," where they dished out tips on how to host an exciting tea party.
"YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THIS LITTLE GIRL IS PREGNANT?!," a Twitter user wrote alongside a photo of her and McClelland performing on the set of "Ellen."
"I mean frankly, she IS a little girl. She is a 19-year-old having a child. She cannot legally drink nor can she adopt a child but she can have one. She may become a great mom but she IS quite young. She's 3 years my junior and when people MY age get engaged I'm like [crying emoji]," another said.
Another had very strong words for the teen star whom they deemed unfit to be called a role model to her followers. The Twitter user wrote, "Sophia grace loses her virginity at just 19 and then goes and gets herself pregnant, well-done girl, setting a great example not. Your parents must be so proud. Does she not know what condoms are for?"
But in her interview with E! News, the social media influencer said she is ready for the responsibility despite her age.
"I just feel it's about the person themselves. And as long as you feel ready and it's something that you're happy about, then it's really no one else's problem," she said.
"I've seen so many supportive comments about how 'You're young, but I had a baby at this age and it was so lovely. It really makes me feel happy when I see other girls comment on that. It really, really makes me so more confident," she added.
