Newcastle United are reportedly looking to sign three Manchester United players on loan during the ongoing January transfer window.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce, who played over 400 competitive matches for the Red Devils during his playing career, is interested in center-back Phil Jones, midfielder Jesse Lingard, and young full-back Brandon Williams, as reported by the soccer website 90min.

Currently placed 15th in the 2020-21 Premier League, the Magpies are aiming to add some extra league experience to help them climb up the league table. However, due to their current financial crisis, Newcastle are forced to consider a few moves on loan this winter.

The 90min report has stated that Bruce has made it clear to the Newcastle management that he needs the club to sign at least three players before the January market, which ends on the last day of the month and Manchester United’s 20-year-old Williams is high on Bruce’s wish list. It is believed that Newcastle and the Red Devils have agreed to a "principle deal" for the versatile defender, who has made 41 senior appearances for the Old Trafford side since his first-team debut in 2019.

Bruce is also interested in the services of Lingard and Jones, who are also being chased by other Premier League clubs. The 90min has also revealed that Bruce has contacted his former club and has had a discussion in length about these transfers. Bruce had a decorated stint with Manchester United between 1987 and 1996, where he won many trophies including three Premier League titles. Newcastle are optimistic to have an agreement soon in regards to all the three players.

Manchester United are keen on offloading Jones, who has been associated with the club since 2011 and is yet to play a game in 2020-21. He is among the top earners at the Old Trafford side and in order to facilitate the 28-year-old defensive midfielder’s temporary exit from the club, Manchester United are also prepared to pay a part of Jones’ wages. Meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is yet to decide if he wants to loan out Lingard and Williams as well at the underway transfer window.
