  • Arteta wants to keep Saka in Chelsea
  • Saka is a target by several teams
  • The Gunners hope to keep young promising core

Chelsea manager Mikel Arteta is fully aware that he has a tough task ahead trying to point The Gunners towards the right direction. The past weeks have linked him to making potential additions. However, it appears there are players on his fold that he wants to keep.

Among them include Bukayo Saka, an 18-year-old who has been making waves and his performance has captured the eye of several top teams. Two teams reportedly interested in taking in Saka are Manchester United and Liverpool, Goal.com reported. Saka's current deal is up to 2021 only.

The easy way to keep the English professional football player is through give him fresh terms as soon as possible. Unfortunately, The Gunners are struggling to put in fresh terms although agreements could be given to players that deserve it. Saka fits that category and Arteta hopes something will be reached soon.

“We have Edu, we have Raul [Sanllehi], Vinai [Venkatesham] and Huss [Fahmy] who are in charge of that and I am sure we will do the right thing when players deserve to improve and extend their contracts,” Arteta said.

It will be interesting how The Gunners will be able to address Saka's situation. Looking beyond that, adding more players to the fold is one of Arteta's prerogative. With no significant movement during the last transfer window, the case could be different in the summer. Among the names mentioned include Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares. Arteta says that the process has already started.

In a previous post, Arteta is hoping to see some improvements following their mini-preseason tournament in Dubai. One of the things the former Arsenal want to see is consistency. Since taking over from Unai Emery, he has only three wins to show and a bunch of draws. Results may not immediately show, given that he lacks ample time. However, the belief is that things will change soon.

For now, the immediate goal for Arsenal is to climb up the Premier League table. They are currently at 10th spot and their grind starts this Sunday against Newcastle. After that, The Gunners need to deal with games encompassing the Premier League, Europa League and the FA Cup from now until March.
