  • Borussia Dortmund has targets in mind if Sancho leaves
  • Sancho's exit is not a certainty
  • Bellingham's arrival could give Dortmund sigh of relief

Borussia Dortmund finds itself in a spot, particularly regarding the tenure of Jadon Sancho.

The 20-year-old player has been strongly linked to a transfer to Manchester United, although the move remains uncertain. Regardless, it appears The Blues are making sure that an eventual departure will not leave them short-handed. Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc recently revealed that they are targeting a couple of players in the event the English winger does move out of Signal Iduna Park.

In an interview with Kicker (via Goal), Zorc talked about Sancho's departure rumors and said that they would be addressing offensive loopholes should the player leave. They have two unnamed targets in mind.

"If Jadon left, we would do something again in the offensive area," Zorc said. "There are certainly one or two players we are targeting."

One player who is close to joining the club is Jude Bellingham. As mentioned in a previous report, the 17-year-old opted to sign with Borussia Dortmund.

This fulfills the wish of his father, Mark Bellingham, who wanted his son to join the German Club. The elder Bellingham feels that his son can evolve better under the watch of Lucien Favre. Mark apparently wants his son to follow the path of Sancho, possibly the same player he could be filling in for.

As for Sancho, a move to Old Trafford this season may not materialize. Most clubs are dealing with the financial crunch brought about by the COVID-19 virus, and United has not been spared.

The Red Devils mentioned in another report that they will not spend more than $61 million for the 20-year-old player. But Dortmund wants $141 million for Sancho and has no plans of lowering that asking fee.

If money stands in the way, a Sancho exit may not happen this summer. If the COVID-19 situation improves, United and other clubs could revisit a deal for him after the next season.

The other teams interested in Sancho are Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona. However, the hefty asking price of Dortmund is likely to force them to pass for now.

Most are expected to target more affordable players. In the case of United, Leon Bailey has been singled out as an alternative. Bayer Leverkusen is reportedly asking a $50 million fee for the Jamaican player.
