  • Chelsea FC starts talks with Bayern Leverusken for Kai Havertz
  • Kai Havertz is looking forward to moving to Stamford Bridge
  • Kai Havertz and Timo Werner may replace Willian and Pedro

It appears that previous rumors linking Kai Havertz to Chelsea are indeed true. The latest reports reveal that the Blues have already reached out to Bayern Leverkusen to discuss a potential deal involving the 20-year-old attacking midfielder.

According to The Guardian, Chelsea has already touched base with Leverkusen about signing the German football player. The 20-year-old could be another key piece for the Blues following the impending acquisition of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. If the Blues are successful, a Werner and Havertz combo could be something to watch next season. Further, it also addresses possible forthcoming holes with veterans like Willian Borges da Silva and Pedro Rodriguez possibly leaving.

Havertz is a young and promising player that could give Stamford Bridge something to rave about next season. This season with Leverusken, the German has already accounted for five goals in four league appearances. Havertz looms as a flexible addition, someone who can play the wing or the middle. Further, the German seems open to the move to Chelsea which could be a major step in his football career.

In a previous post, it was mentioned how the Blues were keen on signing another young rising star following the Werner deal. To make it happen, Chelsea will need to fork out roughly $95.4 million. Out to crowd them in the chase for the German is Manchester United, another team bent on making a big splash by the next transfer window.

Should the Blues be successful, they would have a formidable German duo leading the offense. And unless new deals for Willian and Pedro are handed out, it appears Werner and Havertz will take over by next season.

Willian has yet to sign a new deal with the Blues. Originally, he was seeking a three-year deal but was offered only two. Aware of the implications brought in by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Brazilian mentioned he would be open to a temporary deal and delay his long-term contract demand for now.

Tied up to that is the case of Pedro. The Spanish football player said in a previous post that he will only sign a short-term deal if Willian does the same first. He is keeping track of what other players with expiring deals are doing to figure out his next step. If both do not get any new offers by the summer, both are likely to move out and join new clubs.
