Premier League Rumors: Dembele Prefers To Stay In Barcelona For Now, Agent Says

The name of Moussa Dembele has been frequently heard in transfer rumors with several teams interested in the French football player. But it appears leaving Cam Nou this summer has been shut down no less by his agent (Moussa Sissoko) who does not expect his client to suit up for another club, at least for now.

Sissoko said to L'Equippe that he does not expect the 23-year-old forward to leave Barcelona this summer. Several teams have been linked to Dembele. That includes clubs like Liverpool and Arsenal. However, the latest statement from Dembele's manager will likely put any transfer rumors to rest for now. Also, it would be best to note that the French national did not want to leave Barca willingly. Instead, he would rather stay and fight for his spot on the club.

The Reds went as far as to reach out to Barcelona for a potential deal involving Dembele. That includes taking in the forward on loan with an option to buy. But with Dembele reluctant about any moves, any potential deal involving him may be futile.

Acquired in 2017, Dembele has not exactly performed well with Barca. Injuries have been a big problem for him although he has managed to help out when healthy. That includes scoring 19 goals in 74 appearances across all competitions. But his durability has been singled out as a concern. He is part of a rumored plan to take in Miralem Pjanic of Juventus.

In a previous post, The Reds were believed to be determined to get Dembele to their side. Jurgen Klopp was reportedly ready to spend big money to acquire the French forward. Liverpool was prepared to shell out as much as $100 million to get him despite his plight of injuries. Dembele signed nearly $140 million to play for Blaugrana.

With another key name taken out of potential moves happening by the next transfer window, the list of players moving has been growing smaller. Just recently, reports of Timo Werner moving to Chelsea came out, one of the top names speculated to be on the move.

Though Dembele prefers to stay at Camp Nou, most see his injuries as a red flag. Quique Setien could evaluate Dembele and the team first before deciding on whether he should make a move or not this summer.
