  • Klopp admits finances forced him out of Werner race
  • Klopp is aware he lost thd chance to add a great player
  • Werner's deal is yet to be sealed with Chelsea

Most Premier League teams are dealing with financial issues right now, something raised by the COVID-19 pandemic. Liverpool FC was not spared from it although most feel they have more than enough players to make it through the remainder of the season. But one fish that got away from them is Timo Werner of RP Leipzig. As most now, the word out is that the German striker is set to move to Stamford Bridge once everything has been ironed out.

For Liverpool, Klopp admits that they missed out on a great player, Sky Sports Germany reported. But given the pandemic, his hands are tied right now due to the limited availability of funds. The Reds are not the only ones dealing with such an issue and it may take some time before clubs can start targeting high profile players once more. But as far as Liverpool is concerned, it appears they will just have to make do with who they have right now. With names like Mohamed Salah, Robert Firminho and Sadio Mane in tow, there is no question that The Reds are still looking good.

"There are a lot of good players on this planet," Klopp said. "Timo Werner is a great player, Kai Havertz is a great player."

Klopp admits that all clubs stand to lose money in the coming months. There won't be spectators, meaning they will end up paying back season tickets. Aside from that, they may not be able to sell any come next season. It is a reality that they have to face, one of the factors that show how clubs will be in for rough sailing in the next couple of months to probably a year at the least. Aside from that, there are the salaries of players, some of which have been asked to agree to a cut.

Werner is a big name that The Reds lost out on. However, Liverpool is expected to get over it and continue their magnificent run. As mentioned in a previous post, the Werner deal is still pending with Leipzig sporting director Oliver Mintzlaff revealing that the release clause has yet to be triggered. However, it may only be a matter of time before the Blues sit down and do so. Aware of that, all Mintzlaff wants right now is to see the German striker finish the season with The Red Bulls.
