  • Bellingham signing with Borussia Dortmund
  • Bellingham gets chance to further hone skills with Die Borussen
  • Manchester United left to look at other targets but on a budget

The long wait on the future of Jude Bellingham will soon be over. At least two teams are aggressively pursuing the 17-year-old football player. Based on the latest reports, it appears Bellingham has chosen the club he will be playing for next season, something that is expected to make his father, Mark Bellingham, pretty happy.

In a previous post, it was mentioned how the elder Bellingham preferred to see his son go to Die Borussen where he can hone his skills. He believes his son still needs to develop some parts of his game and Dortmund is the place where that can happen. Bellingham's dad wants his son to follow the same path of Jadon Sancho, ironically another player that United is pursuing.

And if the latest reports on the status of Bellingham are true, it appears the teenager will be announcing that move to Dortmund soon. According to BBC, Borussia is close to completing the deal for Bellingham which will reportedly be a five-year deal worth roughly $26 million. The official announcement of the deal is expected to be made soon.

For United, it would be another blow to the targets Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had in mind. It will be recalled that in February, the Red Devils invited Bellingham and his family to the Carrington training base. The teenage footballer was able to meet Solskjaer in person as well as former manager Sir Alex Fergusson. Most saw the move something that may have given the Red Devils an edge. But as it turns out, it was not enough to convince Bellingham to choose Old Trafford over Signal Iduna Park.

Hence, United will have to cross out another name from their hit list heading into the summer. Solskjaer already revealed that he is unaware of the budget he can work on after this season although it is likely to be tight. The Red Devils already set their ceiling price offer on Sancho, revealing they will not spend anything over $61 million for the 20-year-old player. The asking price of Borussia for Sancho is $141 million.

With Sancho and Bellingham possibly off the table, Solskjaer may have to settle for alternatives. A name that has been mentioned is Leon Bailey, someone worth roughly $50 million.
