- Griezmann leaving is highly possible if things don't work out
Antoine Greizmann was a big acquisition for FC Barcelona from Atletic Madrid but the hefty investment in the 29-year-old forward has not paid off. There is the growing belief that he may be on the way out although Barca is not giving him up for chump change.
As mentioned in a previous post, Barca is reportedly offering Greizmann to the highest bidder. The Catalan Giants are only entertaining offers from teams willing to shell out a nine-figure deal, meaning seeing the French footballer leave may take a while.
To recall, Barca was able to close the deal on Griezmann after spending more than $130 million to reel him in from Atletico Madrid. Known to be a 20-25 goal scorer, his stint with Barca has not exactly panned out. He has had only 14 goals and four assists in 37 games and there are reportedly some chemistry issues blending from within.
It appears that the turmoil from within is true. The scout, Eric Olhats, who was responsible behind the coming of Griezmann aired his side, believing that the French forward is struggling to fit in with the team. He admits that Griezmann seems pretty unhappy but is carrying on his commitment with the team by cooperating and staying quiet, Mundo Deportivo reported.
“Other players and friends said that his game was going to fit in and adapt very well to the way Barca play, tiki-taka and all that, but I don’t like his performances," Olhats said. “You see that there are problems, that he isn’t enjoying it.”
Olhats believes that Griezmann is unable to perform at the level expected from him because he is not getting help from his teammates. He singled out how the forward has not been getting passes from other players, making him look useless in games. However, the scout revealed that Griezmann is not the type who would complain. Instead, the French footballer is trying to learn the system and remains hopeful to help out the team and main star Lionel Messi.
"I've been here six months; we still have to learn,” Griezmann said via Gola.com. “I have to learn [Messi's] movements and he has to learn mine. We're enjoying the work we put in together and it's getting better and better all the time."
