KEY POINTS

  • Bellerin supporting Arteta's vision
  • Bellerin next contract depends on Arsenal's run
  • Arteta has full plate, figuring out how stays and who goes after this season

Hector Bellerin may not be among the players that Arsenal FC will worry about this season. The 25-year-old winger still has three years left in his contract and is comfortable with Mikel Arteta's vision. But looking ahead, the Spaniard is making no assurance that he will sign another long-term deal with the Gunners. He wants to see results with Arteta on board first before deciding.

Despite having three years left in his current deal, the Spanish winger has been linked to moves to several teams. The list includes Inter Milan and Juventus but nothing has gone beyond that, ESPN reported. Bellerin is not thinking about leaving Emirates Stadium, for now, preferring to support Arteta's intent to rejuvenate the club. But like most, he wants to see the results of Arteta's efforts. The three-year wait will be more than enough for him to assess if he should stay or go.

With football action set to restart, Arsenal may fall short of making the Champions League this year. The Gunners are in a transition stage but things are expected to be different by next season. The Gunners return to action on June 17 against Manchester City.

As mentioned in a previous post, Arteta has a lot of work to do. Though he has been linked to several targets, current players need attention. Someone who could be lost if he is not careful is David Luiz. In a previous post, the Brazilian is nearing the end of his current deal. The 33-year-old has yet to get a new deal as of this writing. Should Luiz be out, Odsonne Edouard of Celtic FC is reportedly on Arteta's radar.

The only problem with plans of getting Edouard is that there are also other teams targeting the 22-year-old striker. That would include teams like Real Madrid, Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United. There is also Willian of the Blues mentioned as another target. From the list of players potentially staying or going, it is pretty clear that Arteta has plenty to think about moving forward.

For now, the case of Bellerin won't matter much. But the players who would be retained and brought in by Arteta will be important. It could be the key to Arsenal's rise from the ashes and hopefully convince valued players like Bellerin to stay on.
