Premier League Rumors: Werner Ready To Transfer Once Liverpool Pays Leipzig Fee
KEY POINTS
- Werner ready to move to Liverpool
- RB Leipzig could change buyout clause figures
- Teams have not contacted RB Leipzig about Werner
Timo Werner is one of the top targets of Liverpool even though the Reds already have a team loaded with scorers. But it appears the 24-year-old striker is unbothered by it. A recent report claims that Werner is ready to transfer once Liverpool settles the required transfer fee with RB Leipzig.
Sky Sports revealed that Werner is determined to make the jump but the Reds need to settle the £52 million buyout clause set by RB Leipzig. However, Liverpool needs to act fast. The clause expires in less than two months. If The Reds are not careful, there is a chance that Die Roten Bullen could tweak the price at a higher amount.
Liverpool originally targeted Werner during the January transfer window. Nothing got done and most recent reports claim that The Reds are hesitant to get anything done before June 15. Aware that Werner will be hotly pursued, it is practically a given that the buyout clause will increase.
Another team interested in Werner is Bayern Munich. However, it was mentioned in a previous post that heading there also made no sense. This was suggested by Dietmar Hartman who reasoned that Bayern already had a central striker in Robert Lewandowski. He is puzzled by the interest but the fact remains that Werner is young and is a talent that would be hard to pass up. So far, no talks have gone down between Leipzig and Bayern.
According to General-Anzeiger, neither team has approached him to talk about Werner. He also revealed how they are happy with the 24-year-old, extending his contract until 2023. This season Werner has made 21 goals in 25 games. RB Leipzig feels that Werner can shine more if he sticks with the club.
Another team allegedly interested in Werner is Chelsea. The Blues are another team religiously rebuilding and a club that may make more sense. But it appears that the German footballer has his heart set on playing for Liverpool. He may have to wait a bit longer with the league on hold due to COVID-19. Tied up to that is the state of his contract - similar to the ones most players are now trying to figure out.
