  • Sadio Mane missed Liverpool's West Ham game Sunday
  • He has scored 10 goals for Reds across all competition this season
  • Liverpool have recorded two back-to-back wins in the league

Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Sadio Mane's availability ahead of his side's Premier League clash with Brighton on Wednesday.

Liverpool's star striker Mane missed his side's 3-1 win over West Ham on Sunday. Klopp has confirmed that the Senegal national will remain unavailable for the Brighton clash as well.

While Liverpool have not faced any new injury following the West Ham game, Mane, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Diogo Jota will continue to be sidelined. Ahead of the Brighton game, Klopp was asked by reporters if his team's injury list remained the same. "Yes, it's as it was, " Klopp was quoted by Liverpool's official website as saying in a press conference.

Mane, who netted 10 goals across all competitions for the Reds this season, had scored and provided an assist in his side's 3-1 win over Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week.

Klopp was also quizzed about the club's newest members, Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak. The defense duo, who joined Liverpool on the January transfer window's deadline day, is unlikely to feature in the home league game against Brighton, according to the head.

"We play obviously different to Preston and obviously different to Schalke, that's clear. They will need time but we don't have a lot of time. So, we will use the time we have in our hands and try our best. So, if they would have to start tomorrow night together, I think that would be not too cool. But we will give them a few more days," said Klopp.

Premier League champions Liverpool have been majorly hit by injury woes in the ongoing season. It was confirmed Monday that center-back Joel Matip was diagnosed with a ligament ankle issue and will miss the remainder of the 2020-21 campaign. The Reds have already been without their first-choice center-backs Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez because of their respective injuries. It is understood that Van Dijk, who suffered an ACL injury during Liverpool's Merseyside fixture at the Goodison Park last October, may not play again this season.

To bolster their defense department, Liverpool successfully signed Ben Davies for $2.1 million from Championship club Preston. They have also secured the signature of 20-year-old Turkey international Kabak from Schalke on a loan deal worth $24 million, which includes an option to buy in the summer.

Liverpool are currently placed third in the 2020-21 Premier League with 40 points.
