President Obama On 'Between Two Ferns' With Zach Galifianakis: Watch The Awkward Interview Here [VIDEO]
On Tuesday, Zach Galifianakis hosted President Barack Obama as a guest on his show “Between Two Ferns,” a comedy series that appears on the website Funny or Die. The show has a cult following online, and it's famous for how Galifianakis makes his celebrity guests feel awkward and uncomfortable when they appear on the show.
“Between Two Ferns” is known for Galifianakis’ highly irreverent or seemingly ignorant questions, which often shock the celebrities he features on the show.
According to the New York Times, President Obama’s appearance on “Between Two Ferns” is the “latest public relations gamble” that the White House has taken to deliver its message.
While President Obama appeared on “Between Two Ferns” to promote Healthcare.gov and its fast-approaching March 31 deadline, Galifianakis didn’t hold back, and he asked highly awkward questions, including ones about Obama's previous controversies, including his birth certificate.
Galifianakis asked, “Where are you planning on building your Presidential library, Hawaii or your home country of Kenya?”
And although Obama was there specifically to plug Healthcare.gov, Galifianakis readily mocked its rollout.
“Have you heard of the Affordable Care Act?” President Obama said.
“Oh yeah," Galifianakis said. "I heard about that. That’s the thing that doesn’t work? Why would you get the guy who created the Zune to make your website?”
The episode of “Between Two Ferns” with President Obama features all of the awkward humor you would expect from Galifianakis, who did not pull his punches.
